The mission is to lead the way in creating a safe working environment at wind and solar facilities in an environmentally friendly way. Six years in the Navy's Nuclear Power program provided me the knowledge, skills and discipline to function in a broad range of power generation. My 40 years of experience in radiation protection, health, safety and environmental has allowed me to master the field and provide a high level of technical expertise to several large utilities and electrical generating companies. My interest and desire to support renewable energy has lead me to focus on wind, solar and battery storage where I have worked for the last eighteen years. During my career I have worked for Duke Energy, Next Era Energy, GE, Leeward Renewable Energy. At each of the companies I lead the Environmental Health and Safety organization. In 2020 I formed Vander Velde Consulting focused on providing EHS support to solar, wind and battery projects. Vander Velde Consulting has provided construction and operational support to Leeward Renewable Energy, Arc Vera, Renew Safety and Repsol Renewable Energy North America. Providing services such as program development, procedures, site and program audits, EHS site oversight and incident investigation. I am here to help.
