Karo Fernandez

Karo’s background is in Mechanical Engineering and 14 years of PV fieldwork and training expertise. She has worn many hats in PV system design, inspection, commissioning, troubleshooting, and all those fun things. Karo has trained and developed curriculum for technicians with Solar Energy International (SEI) since 2013, is a NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) since 2015, and in 2020 was awarded the Walt Ratterman Award for her international volunteering efforts with Water Mission and Engineers Without Borders. She is a National Electrical Code® CMP-13 Principal Voting Member, representing installers, SEI alumni, and tradespeople in the NEC writing process. The last few years Karo has focused her professional efforts towards developing PV O&M technicians as our industry scales massively. Her motivation is to increase safety by increasing understanding of PV systems. She’s always open to new ideas on how to scale to our industry’s needs, so reach out on LinkedIn or at leading trade conferences.
