Daran is a Principal Scientist at DNV Energy Systems, the world’s largest renewable energy consultancy. He is driven by a passion to protect and conserve the natural world--from combating climate change, to protecting the environment, to energy efficiency / green energy, and transitioning to a low carbon economy. With over 29 years of extensive experience, he maintains expertise in numerical weather and climate prediction, climate change, mesoscale meteorology, Monte-Carlo-based methods, atmospheric reanalysis, wind and solar energy, boundary layer meteorology, data science, statistical methods & machine learning. His research and development (R&D) efforts have led to 20 articles in highly ranked peer-reviewed scholarly journals and numerous conference presentations.
Daran is the winner of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Research Applications Laboratory 2014 Outstanding Publication Award. He was Associate Editor for the scholarly journal Weather and Forecasting from 2009-2014. In 2013 he was honored with the American Meteorological Society Editor's Award for that same journal. He is recipient of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research Outstanding Accomplishment Award for Scientific and Technical Advancement, and numerous awards from the U.S. National Weather Service.
