Maciej Karczewski, Ph.D., is the CEO and Founder of WindTAK. From late 1990s to 2010, he worked for international companies, including some lead roles over R&D teams or innovative processes. He is one of the developers of the propeller for Airbus Helicopters' fastest helicotper prototype called X^3 ("X cubed") and co-developer of Poland's ducted small wind turbine. He worked with the PSA Peugeot Citroen development department on the concept of an aerodynamically optimized tire.
Since 2011 he has been working in the field of wind energy. Based on his experience in large-scale environmental studies and wind measurements on the Norwegian coast including wind tunnel test campaings of wind turbines, he participated as an observer in the work of the International Energy Agency's Wind Technology Platform under Tasks 27 and 41. Among other things, the group worked on revisions of the IEC 61400-2 wind standard. In cooperation with the German institute for offshore wind energy, the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES Fraunhofer), and based on material from the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), he derived proprietary computational models to estimate the long-term costs of operating offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.
Since 2018, he has been running a technology company called WindTAK, a manufacturer of solutions for the wind energy industry, including IoT devices, gateways, and weather stations that work with 5G networks and the cloud. The company offers its products to customers in Poland and Canada through its branch in Prince Edward Island.
